I'm very excited about the upcoming renovations in my dental office. The work will be completed

in 2 stages.

Stage 1 will be done between Nov.23 and Nov.28 while I will be attending the Greater

New York Dental Meeting taking classes.

Stage 2 will begin approximately Dec. 12. Once again, new dental equipment will arrive

to enhance your experience with us.

What will be achieved by the renovations is a brighter, more modern dental office. We have always

prided ourselves on being a 21st century dental office offering our patients the best dentistry

in a warm, bright environment. The physical aspect of our office has always been complemented by

our great team. Now it will be even better. We look forward to hearing your comments.

By the way, I wanted to tell you that a lease extension has been negotiated,

as we intend to be here for a long time.

Eating well is not only important for good weight management or looking great in a special

outfit, but what you eat, how often you eat, and where you eat all effects your dental health too.

Gum disease is a serious, common problem for many people, but teeth cavities are a modern

phenomenon,

With the arrival of modified and processed food, we see more tooth decay than ever. In

the paleolithic age, decay was non existant because of the type of food available to us. It was

only what nature had to offer. The quality of our bread has changed, juices contain a lot of sugar;

many foods have chemical additives, sugars and/or preservatives. Many people have chosen to eat

continuously throughout the day, thus elevating our sugar intake, frequency and mouth acidity,

This results in even more decay. Even our animals are getting more tooth decay than ever.

Think about adding fresh vegetables and whole grains to your diet, eliminating as much

processed and sugary food from your meals. You will truly impress your hygienist at your next

dental visit, and your dental health will start to improve.

All dentists and dental hygienists know that they must attend continuing education courses to

maintain their professional accreditation. This means every year, both hygienists and dentists must

commit to a specific number of courses to keep up to date with technology and researches in the

field. Other staff members , such as assistants and front desk staff, are not obligated; This is

unfortunate because we spend so much time with them when we visit the dentist, Knowing this,

choosing a dentist that believes in continuing education for the team makes us feel we are in good

hands, This insures optimal care of your dental health. Continuing education enables dental

professionals to look at the mouth as a whole, not only one tooth at a time. Identifying patterns such

as excessive grinding, the beginning of gum disease among others, and taking charge at their earliest

stages, makes a huge difference in how your dental health and smile develops in the long run. There

are many different types of classes and conferences available today. Ask your dentist when he is

attending the next conference or 1or 2 day continuing education series. It's for your benefit as well

as his!

As a practicing dentist, you can imagine how many times I have heard my patients
telling me "I'm so nervous." I've also been told "I'm afraid of needles." "I'm scared I won't freeze."
"The noise of the drill terrifies me." "I'm afraid, I'm afraid, I'm afraid." Countless times, over and over again. It's now the 21st century and this problem still exists. Are there solutions to this genuine
serious problem?

At our office, we have found various solutions to this situation. First, we carefully listen to each
patient's concerns. By us knowing what is bothering you, or what makes you nervous, we can help you.

Potential Solutions:

1. Noise reduction headphones: using these headphones during your dental appointment are so effective that we have to lift them up from our patient's ear in order to speak with you.

2. Nitrous Oxide: this is a reversible sedation that simply induces a happy feeling. When your dental appointment is over, you are able to return to work clear headed.

3. Dental Vibe combined with the Wand for the kindest injection you will ever experience.

4. Kind, caring people around you who are always ready to work with you. Tell us if you need a break.

5. An approach to your dental treatment which is designed to your specific needs.

These suggestions and still many other solutions have made our work day very satisfying and has put a smile on our patient's faces.Dr.

When you think of having a dental appointment for a crown , or starting orthodontic treatment, you have instant visions of bad tasting impression material in your mouth. You can feel the goop before it even appears.

At our office, I am here to tell you that you will have a completely different experience.

We have an advanced piece of equipment called Itero. This is a 3D digital impression scanner. Once we take the required pictures, the scan will stitch them together and the case goes automatically directly to the laboratory that we work with. At the lab, a model is created there which will become your crown (perfectly fitted too).

The Itero is more accurate, faster, cleaner and most importantly, more comfortable for our patients. Our patients have benefitted from this advance in technology. We are all thrilled to offer you this service.
That is completely normal. Sometimes we even avoid getting together with friends "just in case". Often, we try to mask it by chewing gum or sucking on a mint or other hard candy. You learn pretty quickly this is a temporary solution. At this point, the most important action you can take is to find out what is the cause of this problem? Where does it come from?

In all my experience as a practicing hygienist, this is what I have learned from taking care of my patients. I am assuming you are someone who takes good care of your mouth; this means you brush your teeth properly twice a day, and you floss your whole mouth once a day. If you still have a sense that your breath is not right, you may be someone who has periodontitis. This is an inflammation of your gums. This causes an infection, or bad breath. 70% of the population over 35 years of age are affected. Periodontitis means that there are bacteria in the pockets of the gums which cause an infection. With proper treatment, you can get rid of it. Your bad breath will be eliminated.

Monitoring your breath is a good way to listen to your body's well being and avoiding embarrassing situations in public. Please do not be shy to ask your hygienist if you are worried you suffer from this problem, She (or he) will be able to tell you if, indeed, you do have gum disease. She will measure the health of your tissue and verify what's going on. It is possible also, that it is a digestive issue. Either way, both affect dental health and must be treated. Remember, your hygienist is here to help you!

I've been a hygienist for 15 years now, and I can tell you that as soon as my patient opens his mouth, I know immediately if they own an electric toothbrush or a manual one.

There are so many brushes on the market to look at that makes it difficult to choose.

First of all, the brush should be rechargeable (NOT a battery operated one). The best brushes
are either the Oral B or Phillips Sonicare. They have both been available for a long time, so that they have been tested and proven to give long term results. Once you have purchased one, it will last for a long time. The brushes are of good quality and reasonable in cost.

My personal preference is the Sonicare Diamond Cleaner. I have found it to be gentle on the gums
and light to hold. My patients have spoken very positively about it, which means they are using it.
If you find a system you like, you will always have better results. This is also a great travel toothbrush since it is USB rechargeable. That is very important if travel is a large part of your work
responsibility.
When you have finished your cleaning and examination appointment with your hygienist, we
usually discuss when you are going to come back for your next dental cleaning.
How do we decide "how long"? Why are patients often confused or don't understand?

There was a time, long ago and far away, that you were told to come back once a year for your "cleaning"appointment. Then dentists and dental researchers looked at the dental health of all their patients. They discovered a yearly visit was not enough to maintain the health of your gums and teeth. With all the resarch gathered in the last 10 years, we now know that coming in for a cleaning appointment every 3 months has been very effective in slowing down or preventing gum disease. We are able to eliminate bacteria BEFORE they can actually damage the tisssue and surrounding teeth. It is also well known in medicine that a healthy mouth reduces the risk of heart disease later in life.

Many patients are now ready to focus on a healthy lifestyle. Prevention is the key. In this dental office, we focus on health. That is why we check your blood pressure as part of your dental examination appointment. We want to make sure your health is as good as it can be, for you. We understand not everyone gets to a physician for a general check up. We want to help you maintain your oral health as well as your overall general health. If you have some type of insurance coverage, we do not have control of what is paid by them. We are always happy to help you with financial arrangments in this office, if you need them. It is never a problem.
• Durability - Your new tooth or teeth are built to last. With proper care and regular checkups, the implant should last as long as you need them to.

• Nearly-Natural Feel and Appearance – Implants are placed into jawbone (the term implant comes from the fact that it is literally implanted) and bond with the bone; you can enjoy life as if your tooth was never lost. Implant patients see improvements in speech, biting and chewing, and the appearance of their smiles.

• Better Oral Health Overall - When a tooth or teeth is lost, the lack of your natural tooth root, and the gap created in your smile, can create dental problems. Jawbone in the area will begin to weaken because it is no longer supporting the same amount of teeth and existing teeth neighboring the vacancy can begin to shift toward it, throwing off your bite alignment. But when an implant is placed, bone is stimulated and existing teeth stay in place.

• Sturdiness - With the dental implant becoming a permanent part of your smile, you won’t experience the loosening or shifting of removable appliances.

Dental implants are money well-spent when it comes to your oral health. While dental bridges and dentures may need to be entirely replaced every few years, an implant requires less cost associated with life-long maintenance, making them the more cost-effective decision in the long run.
Now more than ever, white smiles are associated with good oral hygiene and positive first impressions. However, there are plenty of other healthy options to consider before visiting your dentist.

connected. It's a quite affliction, since most of the time there is no
pain to warn the patient that something is wrong. Most of the time it
starts slowly, but in some cases, it can be quite aggressive. Some symptoms
that the patient can look for are bleeding and swelling of the gums, change in
position of the teeth, movement or bad breath. Healthy gums should never bleed
when brushing or flossing. At each dental hygiene appointment your hygienist
checks the health of your gums using a probe that measures the depth of the
pockets in the gums, she will let you know if any of them go deeper than 3mm
which is the sign for periodontal disease. If so, she or he will recommend you
to do your cleanings as often as 3 months in order to avoid accumulation of the
bacteria responsible for it. This is a method that helps slow down or even stop
the disease from spreading, since there is no cure for it. If a more severe
condition is detected, a deeper cleaning is a must, we need to make sure all
tartar lodged deeper in the pockets is removed, this appointment will be
followed up every 3 months. In these cases, deep cleanings are required once in
a while depending on regular hygiene appointments and home care.

Dental care can be
quite costly, and many patients prefer to ignore the problem until they're
confronted with pain. It is important to understand that when pain starts,
usually the decay or gum disease is advanced, therefore, it is costs more, if
it's not too late. Furthermore, it can also end up in tooth loss which can effect
the bite and smile long term. Taking all this into consideration, there is
never a less invasive and less expensive way to take care of the problem as it is.
Today the cheapest way to deal with dental situations is to go regularly to
your dentist so that when a condition is detected, it's taken care of before it
gets complicated. A treatment plan can be done over 1 year or several years
depending on the patient's budget to help achieve optimal health in the long run.
Once it's completed, it's all about maintaining it. Most dentists offer
payment plans to make it all affordable, and dental fees can be deducted from
your income in Canada.
In the end it's just a question of priority.
